About Us

BASIC Studios is a social purpose corporation based in Washington State, built to provide neurodivergent individuals with a safe place in the workplace. We provide a platform for neurodivergent creators to collaborate, share their talents, and develop their skills in a supportive environment. Our mission is to utilize compassionate survivor-led media and mindful business practices to lower the national suicide rate.

We operate through three distinct branches to accomplish this goal. Our core values and educational framework come from our flagship program, Building COURAGE, a wellness workbook for the mind, body, and soul. Our public-facing media team brings neurodivergent hyperfixations to life as Myths & Mischief, a creative collective dedicated to building an inclusive community. Finally, our collaborative merchandise shop is the Mischief Market, where we encourage our volunteers to offer their services through commissions.

We do not pretend to be perfect or polished. We promise a workspace built on honesty and mutual respect where every member is valued for their story.

Job Description

We are always seeking passionate individuals for unpaid volunteer positions. These roles are best suited for people looking to build a portfolio, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to a cause they believe in. We are especially excited to work with individuals with experience or knowledge in holistic wellness.

We specifically need task-oriented individuals who can focus on organizational growth and relationship-oriented volunteers who can concentrate on expanding our community outreach. If you want to assist with developing creative content, contributing to brainstorming sessions, or helping with daily operations, we have a place for your specific skills.

You will receive task assignments and guidance from our leadership team weekly or biweekly, based on your personal preference. We ask our volunteers to provide approximately five to ten hours of their time per week while maintaining consistent communication.

Benefits & Perks

We offer a unique environment explicitly designed to support your personal growth, prioritizing autonomy, consent, and emotional safety above arbitrary productivity metrics. Our organization utilizes practical self-care tools like our emergency status code [404], which lets every team member signal a need for 72 hours of space without questions. We actively eliminate toxicity in the workplace and build strength through direct accountability rather than demanding perfection.

Because all of our roles are asynchronous, you can build your schedule to support your life. You will also receive priority consideration for paid employment as our organization secures funding.

Location

BASIC Studios is a remote organization with a digital headquarters, allowing participation from a global pool of contributors. All of our operations, meetings, and content development occur online. You can contribute from anywhere using collaborative cloud systems and secure digital spaces like Discord, Google Workspace, Slack, and Notion to stay connected and organized.
