About This Role

As a Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and overall readiness of our fleet of mobile dog grooming vans. Your primary focus will be to reduce downtime, resolve van issues quickly, and oversee preventative maintenance, ensuring our vehicles remain in top condition. This role requires a hands-on approach to fleet management, including titling, registration, and compliance with state and local regulations.

This role is designed to scale as the fleet grows, overseeing 200+ vans across multiple markets.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day fleet operations, ensuring vans are properly allocated, maintained, and service-ready.

  • Manage preventative maintenance schedules, ensuring all vans undergo routine check-ups and servicing.

  • Work with Groomer Operations Managers (GOMs) to minimize service disruptions and keep vehicles operational.

Operational Efficiency & Support

  • Oversee Tier 2 contractors to ensure adequate service coverage and timely van issue resolution.

  • Ensure vans maintain a clean and professional appearance, both inside and out.

  • Work cross-functionally with GOMs, groomers, and internal teams to improve mobile units for grooming operations.

  • Manage fleet reporting tools and systems, ensuring accurate data tracking for van usage, repairs, and downtime metrics.

Vendor & Service Management

  • Establish and maintain relationships with service vendors for repairs, maintenance, and roadside assistance.

  • Oversee van pick-ups, drop-offs, and logistics to and from repair shops.

  • Ensure service vendors meet company standards for efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Vehicle Registration & Compliance

  • Manage titling, registration, and renewals to ensure all vans comply with state, county, and city regulations.

  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of fleet documentation, ensuring compliance with all local requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Must be both a people and dog lover!

  • 5-8+ years of experience in fleet management, logistics, or vehicle operations, ideally in a multi-location environment.

  • Strong knowledge of vehicle titling, registration, and compliance requirements.

  • Experience working with fleet management systems (e.g., Fleetio, Samsara) and roadside assistance programs.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills to troubleshoot fleet issues quickly and efficiently.

  • Ability to manage multiple vendors and service providers while maintaining cost-effective solutions.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills to work across teams and coordinate fleet logistics.

At Barkbus, we are passionate about building a community of world-class pet stylists providing luxury, stress-free dog grooming services at your doorstep. Founded in 2017 by local dog-loving entrepreneurs, we aim to transform the traditional grooming experience into a convenient and enjoyable one for both pets and their parents. Our mobile grooming vans are designed to offer the highest level of comfort and care for your furry friends, ensuring they feel safe and relaxed during their grooming sessions.

We understand that many dogs experience stress during trips to traditional grooming salons where they can be caged for hours. That's why we offer a one-on-one grooming service that creates a calm environment tailored to each dog's needs. We use only the best all-natural products and warm filtered water in our grooming process to guarantee the health and wellness of your pet. Catering primarily to Southern California, including the greater Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego areas, we have rapidly expanded our service offerings to include Dallas, Texas. Our grooming services range from baths and brushes to nail trimming and ear cleaning, with prices that vary based on the dog's size, breed, and coat condition. We take pride in bringing convenience and peace of mind to pet parents, allowing for easy online bookings and personalized care.
