ABOUT BARK

BARK is a U.S.-based company on a simple mission: make dogs and their people happy. Since launching BarkBox in 2011, we’ve grown into THE Dog Company, delighting millions of pups and their humans with toys, treats, food, and health products.

Headquartered in New York City, BARK is a public company with teams across the U.S. and expanding globally. We use data to power everything—from personalized customer experiences to strategic business decisions—and we’re looking for a Lead Analytics Engineer to help elevate our Business Intelligence function as we continue to scale internationally.

This role will be employed through Deel, BARK’s global employment partner in Colombia. Deel provides compliant local payroll, benefits, and statutory employment protections—allowing you to work as a fully integrated member of BARK’s U.S.-based team while enjoying all protections under Colombian labor law.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Lead Analytics Engineer in BARK’s central BI team, you’ll shape how data drives decisions across the company. This high-visibility, hands-on role blends technical depth with analytical storytelling. You’ll develop scalable dbt models in BigQuery and Looker, define trustworthy metrics, and translate complex data into insights that influence company strategy.

A core focus will be building and maintaining BARK’s semantic layer—the foundation for consistent, governed, and AI-ready data. By designing transparent, high-quality models, you’ll help ensure that our future in AI-powered analytics is built on clarity and trust.

**This role reports into BARK’s central Business Intelligence leadership team based in the United States and focuses exclusively on internal analytics and data support functions. The position does not engage in commercial transactions, contract negotiation, or customer-facing activities. The employee does not have authority to negotiate or sign contracts, make binding commitments, or represent BARK before any third party in Colombia or elsewhere. All work performed is internal to BARK’s global operations.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Own part of the data-modeling roadmap and enforce modular dbt development patterns.
  • Design and maintain BARK’s semantic layer supporting self-service and AI-driven analytics.
  • Build governed, user-friendly data exploration in Looker.
  • Partner with business teams to define key metrics and generate actionable insights.
  • Lead testing, documentation, and data-governance best practices to ensure reliability and transparency.
  • Deliver end-to-end data products supporting growth, retention, and financial performance.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 5–7 years in Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, or Data Analytics.
  • Advanced SQL and dbt expertise.
  • Deep experience with BigQuery or other cloud-data-warehouse environments.
  • Proven skill in semantic-layer or governed-metrics-framework design.
  • Strong Looker / LookML development background.
  • Excellent communication and data-storytelling skills.
  • Full professional proficiency in English (both written spoken); this role collaborates daily with U.S. stakeholders.
  • Collaborative mindset with experience partnering across global functions.
  • Experience with B2C or subscription-based businesses is a plus.
  • Passion for mentoring others—and dogs. Seriously.

WORK LANGUAGE HOURS

  • This role requires full English proficiency and overlaps with U.S. Eastern Time working hours (approx. 9 a.m.–5 p.m. ET equivalent).
  • Position is full-time (40 hours per week).

COMPENSATION

  • Base Salary: COP 240,000,000 – 300,000,000 per year
  • Comprehensive benefits administered by Deel, including statutory entitlements under Colombian labor law (e.g., social-security contributions, cesantías, prima, vacation, and health coverage).

This compensation range reflects BARK’s good-faith estimate as of the posting date and may be adjusted based on experience, skills, and internal equity. Compensation is paid in Colombian pesos through Deel and includes all statutory entitlements under Colombian labor law.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT

BARK is an equal-opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. Employment decisions are made without regard to age, gender, race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or any other status protected under Colombian law (Law 1010 of 2006 and Law 1620 of 2013).

DATA PRIVACY NOTICE

By submitting your application, you authorize BARK and Deel to process and store your personal data in accordance with Colombia’s Law 1581 of 2012 (Habeas Data) and Decree 1377 of 2013. Your information will be used solely for recruitment and employment purposes.
