The Field Technician II will provide support to all assigned locations, including data centers and Points of Presence (POPs), and physical site services. The role requires travel, deep knowledge and professional experience deploying rack and stack configurations, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Requirements
- Associate's degree (A.A) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and 2 to 5 years' related experience and/or training
- Builds productive internal and external working relationships
- Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
- Knowledge of data center and POP infrastructure, including experience or deep understanding of OSP, ISP, interfacility cabling, fiber and copper distribution, AC/DC power systems, environmental controls, and relay rack/cabinet/cage construction
- Familiarity with installing and maintaining a wide variety of telecom/network equipment
- Understanding of splicing, and an understanding of how to maintain and operate within a manhole, vault, or handhole environment
- Knowledge of telecommunications testing equipment and testing standards and procedures
- Knowledge of state and local regulatory standards, procedures, and permitting requirements
- Ability to work effectively with local exchange carrier (LEC) and other telecom service provider technicians, building landlords, electricians, construction operators, and non-technical end users
- Ability to work independently, diagnose problems and take appropriate action with minimal supervision
- Experience with spreadsheets, workflow and project management applications, and administrative software applications
- Understanding of how to use a Tier-1 ITSM platform
