Lead Backend Engineer – Automation

Assembly Industries is seeking a Lead Backend Engineer to contribute to their internal orchestration platform, a mission-critical AI-enabled talent platform connecting top-tier professionals with innovative companies. The role focuses on designing, building, and implementing a robust backend system for orchestration, leveraging Java microservices and NoSQL databases. Collaboration with Engineering, Product, and Solution Enablement is essential.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including system design and distributed architecture.
• Strong proficiency in Java, especially for building scalable microservices.
• Experience with NoSQL document databases (e.g., MongoDB, Firestore, Couchbase).
• Deep understanding of distributed systems patterns.
• Familiarity with automation platforms (Zapier, Make, n8n).
• Strong working knowledge of Python scripting and API-based integrations.
• Understanding of LLM architectures, embedding systems, vector search (e.g., FAISS, Pinecone), and prompt engineering.
• Comfort working with solution architects, AI engineers, and product stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills and ability to document systems.
