ASRC Federal Highland Technology is seeking a Cloud Architect. This is a remote position. We are a technical, professional services company providing state-of-the-art solutions to government and commercial clients. Requirements:
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or similar degree
• At least 8 years of overall IT experience of which 5 years are hands-on cloud architecting experience
• If the candidate has a Master’s degree only 3 years of hands-on cloud architecting experience is required
• Candidates will be subject to a government background investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information. (Candidates must be a US Citizen or a Green Card holder that can show 3 years consistent US residency.)
• Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), cloud architecture, networking, virtualization, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
◦ Cloud Service Expertise: Deep knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, including their services, deployment models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), and best practices
◦ Networking: Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, VPNs, and security protocols
◦ Security and Compliance: Ability to design and implement secure architectures, manage identity and access, encryption, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
◦ Automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency with tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, Puppet, or Chef for automating cloud resource management
◦ DevOps Practices: Experience with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and orchestration to streamline deployments
◦ Programming and Scripting: Strong coding skills in languages such as Python, Java, or C# to support automation, integration, and custom solution development
◦ Data Management: Designing robust, scalable, and cost-effective data storage and retrieval solutions
◦ Scalability and Performance Optimization: Ability to design systems that scale efficiently and optimize for performance and cost
Preferred Certification (one of the following):
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
• Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
• Current SAFe Agile certifications
• Strategic and Soft Skills
◦ Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and collaborate across teams
◦ Problem-Solving: Sharp troubleshooting abilities to identify and resolve complex technical issues and ensure system resilience
◦ Project Management: Ability to manage cloud projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with business goals
◦ Cost Management: Skills to analyze, monitor, and optimize cloud spending while maintaining performance and security
◦ Continuous Learning: Staying updated with the latest cloud technologies, trends, and best practices
• Security and Compliance: Understanding of cloud security best practices, identity and access management (IAM), and regulatory requirements
• Software Development: Familiarity with software development methodologies and multi-tiered distributed applications
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to address technical challenges and optimize cloud environments
• Disaster Recovery: Designing and implementing disaster recovery strategies to minimize downtime and data loss
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for strategic and tactical conversion of technical vision and departmental policy and mandates into designs and plans for cloud technology adoption and transition planning from current on-prem data center to AWS data centers.
• Collaborate across internal development teams, other vendors and government stakeholders to ensure overall priorities and requirements are understood and established which shape the transition to Cloud.
• Design and Planning: Develop cloud solution architectures that meet business requirements, including cost optimization, integration with external systems, and support for application design
• Cloud Infrastructure Management: Manage and provision cloud infrastructure using best practices for security, scalability, and high availability
• Security and Compliance: Design and implement solutions that adhere to security policies and regulatory compliance standards
• Optimization: Continuously analyze and optimize technical and business processes for improved performance and cost efficiency
• Implementation Oversight: Lead cloud architecture implementations, ensuring smooth integration and minimal disruption
• Reliability and Operations: Ensure the reliability, availability, and resilience of cloud solutions, including disaster recovery planning
• Technology Evaluation: Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and trends, recommending and implementing improvements
• Collaboration: Work closely with IT, development, and business teams to align cloud strategies with organizational goals
• Cost Management: Monitor and optimize cloud spending to ensure cost-effective solutions
• Governance and Vendor Management: Establish governance frameworks and manage relationships with cloud service providers
