Principal Electrical Engineer - Power Capital Initiatives (Remote-US)

The Principal Electrical Engineer will create the strategy, change management plan, and lead execution of capital initiatives which accelerate the organization's drive to optimize multi‑site power demand/cost profile.

OVERVIEW

This role requires a visionary leader with strong technical expertise, financial acumen, Operations & Supply Chain experience, program management skills, and the ability to align cross‑functional teams to achieve world‑class energy profile.

LOCATION OF ROLE

  • Remote with 25‑50% domestic and international travel to support multi‑site initiatives, engage with cross‑functional teams, and oversee project execution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Define and execute the company's energy transition roadmap, ensuring alignment with executive leadership.
    • Establish partnerships with external experts and monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies.
    • Serve as a technical advisor to executive leadership on energy strategy, investments, and risk management.
  • Engineering Investments Design/Technology Adoption
    • Lead engineering teams responsible for renewable integration (solar, battery storage), electrification, and systems to automate site demand management.
    • Partner with internal leaders to identify and action continuous improvement across existing steam and natural gas power generation.
    • Direct feasibility studies, concept designs, and front‑end engineering.
    • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, and safety requirements.
  • Program & Project Management
    • Oversee large‑scale capital projects and drive EBITDA improvement in power demand costs.
    • Drive execution from early concept through commissioning, ensuring on‑time and on‑budget delivery.
    • Establish KPIs to measure progress toward energy optimization goals across 15+ industrial manufacturing sites.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Partner with operations, supply chain, IT/OT, and external stakeholders to integrate transition technologies into existing systems.
    • Build and maintain relationships with regulators, technology providers, academic partners, and industry consortia.
    • Provide training and development for manufacturing sites and executive leadership on emerging energy technologies.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement
    • Evaluate and pilot cutting‑edge technologies such as PV cells, microgrids, advanced storage, digital twins, and AI for energy optimization.
    • Establish a culture of innovation within engineering teams, encouraging experimentation and data‑driven decision‑making.
    • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, reliability improvement, and resilience in energy systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 20+ years of progressive engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, with substantial experience in electrical engineering, power generation, transmission, and demand optimization.
  • 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record delivering large capital projects in energy, utilities, manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Deep knowledge of renewable energy systems, energy efficiency, grid integration, and decarbonization technologies.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing multimillion‑dollar budgets.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Master's degree preferred.
