What makes this role exciting and challenging:
As a Front End Software Architect, you will be responsible for the high-level design and architectural aspects, shaping the overall direction of front-end development within Allwyn Lottery Solutions. This involves making high-level decisions regarding technology choices, design patterns, and ensuring that the overall front-end structure aligns with the business goals and requirements. The Front End Architect in Allwyn Lottery Solutions works on establishing best practices and guidelines for the development teams and plays a pivotal role in translating business requirements into technical solutions, ensuring that the front-end systems are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with industry standards.
As part of your everyday responsibilities, you will:
- Craft the software architecture design along with the Head of Engineering and Lead Engineers.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring over the whole component/product/project's lifecycle.
- Work on proof-of-concepts or prototype code to validate the architecture design if required and set the basis for the engineering teams.
- Provide technical mentoring to geographically dispersed software development teams.
- Improve the development pipeline (quality, security and velocity) through continuous improvement of process, methodology, learning and tooling including the deployment pipeline.
- Participate in high level estimates and statements of work for customers or internally.
- Maintain the platform maintenance backlogs and ensure that they are continuously progressed
- Promote re-usability and innovation within our solutions - enabling maximum reuse and opportunity across our customers
- Ensure the right tools and environment are provided to maximize the productivity of the teams, through reviewing and recommendations of potential tools/frameworks/technologies.
- Ensure quality appropriate to our industry through good design, engineering and automated testing - satisfying our customers and being proud of what we deliver, whilst protecting our brand.
- Ensure that security and operational concerns are considered as a priority and not an afterthought
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 7-8 years of experience in front-end development, with at least 5 years in a senior or lead role.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing successful mobile solutions.
- Proficiency in modern JavaScript and TypeScript.
- Expertise in React and familiarity with React-Native is a plus.
- Proven experience designing for and working on mobile applications for at least one of Android, iOS, or React Native, or some other hybrid mobile development framework.
- Experience working within the native layer of at least one of the major mobile platforms, Android or iOS.
- Experience working on client applications within a high load cloud service based architectural environment would be a plus.
- Strong emphasis on code quality and adherence to software engineering principles.
- Proficiency in automated testing frameworks and practices for front-end code.
- Experience in optimizing applications for speed, scalability, accessibility and multiple form factors.
- Demonstrated ability in technical leadership and mentoring junior developers.
- Excellent teamwork skills with an ability to get the work done with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to document effectively, ensuring clarity and comprehensibility for varied audiences.
- Positive attitude, good sense of humor, and ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
