Magdalene Kanyiva
@magdalenekanyiva
Deputy principal and English & Literature teacher, delivering student-centered instruction and academic leadership.
What I'm looking for
I am a passionate, student-centered educator with 3+ years of teaching and academic leadership across Primary, Junior, and Secondary School levels. I specialize in English Language and Literature, and I bring flexibility to support Mathematics instruction when required. As a registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission (Kenya), I focus on strong classroom culture and meaningful learner growth.
Currently, I serve as Deputy Principal and Teacher of English and Literature, combining classroom teaching with learner mentorship, curriculum supervision, and school leadership. I deliver high-quality lessons across junior and secondary levels, monitor learner progress, and implement strategies that improve academic performance. I also strengthen school culture through learner welfare, discipline systems, and parental engagement, while collaborating with staff to raise instructional standards.
Before this role, I worked as a Teacher of English and Class Teacher, where I managed class performance, attendance, discipline, and student mentoring. I designed assessments, monitored academic progress, and supported colleagues to improve student achievement through effective classroom practice.
I am trained in Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) implementation and I bring a leadership mindset grounded in safeguarding, professionalism, and learner success. I’m committed to lesson planning, assessment for learning, and positive discipline—so students feel supported, challenged, and ready to thrive.
