John Smoot
@johnsmoot
Experienced nurse focused on patient triage, medication administration, and pre-/post-operative care.
What I'm looking for
I’m a nurse with hands-on clinical experience across outpatient and hospital settings, focused on safe patient care from intake through discharge. I’m especially effective in fast-paced workflows that require clear documentation and calm, patient-centered communication.
At Oak Street Health, I completed the “Return-to-Work process,” administered vaccines, and supported clinical decision-making through telephone triage. I also assisted with assessing patients and handling “Prior Authorizations for medications,” helping ensure timely access to needed treatment.
In perioperative and post-acute care roles, I performed both preop and postop assessments, started IVs, drew blood, and “accessed PACs.” I ensured patients were “ready to go to the OR preoperatively,” and discharged patients home postoperatively once they met criteria. I also administered “blood products and IV antibiotics” in alignment with approved care plans.
I’ve further supported emergency readiness as part of the “Harvey Team” during “cardiac/respiratory arrest.” My certifications include “BLS and ACLS” with PALS training, plus “Hemisphere stroke certification” and “Apex EKG certification,” reinforcing my ability to respond quickly and competently.
