Ellen Pereira

I’m a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a strong 14-year clinical foundation in emergency medicine. I’m drawn to high-acuity, fast-paced environments where I can apply sharp clinical instincts to both acute and chronic psychiatric presentations.

At Johns Hopkins Hospital, I provided and educated evidence-based care in a Level I trauma center, led crisis stabilization and acute psychiatric interventions during the COVID-19 pandemic, and served as both Co-Chair of the Critical Care Committee and Nursing Supervisor to the Emergency Department. I also collaborated across departments to draft, create, and implement the BPD Search and Seizure protocol for patient safety, and I delivered an educational lecture series focused on legal deliberations when providing care during psychiatric emergencies.

Clinically, I bring hands-on experience from inpatient psychiatric liaison work and advanced outpatient care, including diagnostic evaluations, intake assessments, psychotherapy, group therapy, and pharmacology management. I’ve managed inpatient patients receiving ECT and stayed compliant with Spravato and TMS, and I also support addiction, mood disorders, and childhood psychiatric conditions through telehealth.
