Role Overview
We are seeking a talented and passionate Section Violist to join our esteemed orchestra. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the sound and performance of our ensemble, collaborating closely with fellow musicians and conductors to deliver exceptional musical experiences.
Responsibilities
- Perform as a principal violist in orchestral concerts, chamber music, and other performances, demonstrating technical proficiency and musicality
- Collaborate with section members to achieve cohesive sound and interpretative goals, providing leadership and guidance within the viola section
- Assist in rehearsals and performances, contributing to the overall artistic vision and execution
- Engage in ongoing practice and skill development to maintain and enhance individual performance standards
- Participate in sectional rehearsals and provide constructive feedback to fellow violists
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Advanced proficiency on the viola with a strong background in orchestral performance
- At least 5 years of experience performing in orchestras or similar ensembles
- Ability to read and interpret complex musical scores and arrangements
Preferred:
- Experience in chamber music settings and collaborations with diverse ensembles
- Advanced degree in music performance or a related field
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in various musical styles and genres, including classical, contemporary, and world music
- Experience with orchestral conducting techniques and music arrangement
