Role Overview
Join [$COMPANY_NAME] as a Senior Associate and become the analytical engine powering our early-stage investment decisions. You’ll source high-potential startups, architect sophisticated financial models, and craft data-driven investment theses that shape the future of technology. This is a high-impact position for someone who thrives in ambiguity, can dissect a Series A SaaS cohort retention curve before coffee, and wants to sit at the table when term sheets are signed.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end deal execution: originate 60–80 opportunities per quarter, triage inbound pipelines, and own preliminary due-diligence workflows (market mapping, founder reference calls, customer NPS analysis)
- Build three-statement operating models, cap-table waterfalls, and Monte-Carlo valuation scenarios to underwrite $1–20 M checks across pre-seed to Series B stages
- Present investment memos to the Investment Committee, synthesizing TAM expansion, competitive moat durability, and exit pathway scenarios in <10-slide narratives
- Mentor Associates and Analysts on bottom-up market sizing, KPI benchmarking, and OKR setting for portfolio companies
- Orchestrate technical diligence sessions with CTOs, reviewing architecture diagrams, security audits, and cloud spend efficiency (AWS/GCP)
- Track macro indicators—Fed policy shifts, NVDA supply-chain data, regulatory filings—to refine sector allocation and reserve strategy
- Represent [$COMPANY_NAME] at YC Demo Day, SaaStr, and TOKEN2049; convert conference interactions into proprietary deal flow via rapid CRM follow-up (Affinity, Salesforce)
- Negotiate pro-rata rights, liquidation preferences, and board-observer provisions alongside General Counsel
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of combined experience in venture capital, growth equity, investment banking (TMT), or product/engineering at a high-growth startup
- Demonstrated track record of sourcing and closing at least two investments that progressed to subsequent up-rounds
- Advanced Excel and Google Sheets fluency—can build dynamic cohort retention models and sensitivity tables without templates
- SQL proficiency to query portfolio data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake) and derive unit-economics insights
- Exceptional written communication: sample investment memo required (redact sensitive info)
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or related quantitative field; MBA or CFA optional but valued
Preferred Qualifications
- Network in vertical SaaS, fintech infrastructure, or climate-tech ecosystems
- Experience with on-chain analytics (Dune, Nansen) for crypto-native diligence
- Working knowledge of Python or R for statistical analysis and scraping (BeautifulSoup, pandas)
- Prior founder or early operating experience (0→1 product launches, GTM pivots)
- Series 7 & 63 licensed (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)

Soft Skills and Cultural Fit

- Builder mentality: automates repetitive diligence tasks via scripts or no-code tools
- Radical candor in partner meetings; comfortable saying “pass” with clear, data-backed rationale
- Relationship-first approach—sends curated talent or customer intros before asking for allocation
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity; can prioritize 30 competing tasks without a playbook
