Role Overview
We are looking for a Utility Locator Supervisor to oversee and lead a team of utility locating professionals. In this role, you will ensure the accuracy and efficiency of utility locating services, enabling safe excavation practices and preventing damage to underground infrastructure. Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor a team of utility locators, providing guidance on best practices and technical procedures
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations for utility locating
- Coordinate daily operations and resource allocation for utility locating projects
- Conduct field audits to verify the quality and accuracy of locator work
- Manage client relationships, addressing concerns and providing solutions to ensure satisfaction
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge
- Collaborate with other departments to optimize utility locating processes and project outcomes
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in utility locating or related field
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a track record of managing teams effectively
- In-depth knowledge of utility locating technologies and methodologies
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and practices in the utility sector
Preferred:
- Experience with GIS and mapping software
- Certification in utility locating or damage prevention
- Experience in project management and client engagement
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in underground utility locating technologies such as electromagnetic, ground penetrating radar (GPR), and acoustic methods
- Proficient in utilizing GPS and GIS systems for accurate mapping and reporting
- Familiarity with data analysis tools for assessing utility locating metrics
