Role Overview
We are seeking a distinguished and dynamic Chair of the Spanish Literature Department to lead our academic initiatives and elevate our literary scholarship. This role encompasses strategic leadership in curriculum development, faculty mentorship, and fostering a culture of excellence in literary studies, with a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Spanish Literature Department in developing and implementing innovative curricula that reflect current trends and methodologies in literary studies.
- Mentor faculty members, promoting professional development and fostering a collaborative academic environment.
- Drive research initiatives by supporting faculty and student scholarship, including grants and publications.
- Oversee departmental operations, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure optimal functioning.
- Engage with students, alumni, and the broader community to promote the value of Spanish literature and cultural studies.
- Contribute to university governance by participating in committees and advocating for the department's needs and vision.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Spanish Literature or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of teaching experience at the university level, with a strong record of research and publication.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic setting, including curriculum development and faculty mentorship.
Preferred:
- Proficiency in both Spanish and English.
- Experience with interdisciplinary programs and community engagement initiatives.
- A strong network within the academic and literary communities.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Familiarity with digital humanities tools and methodologies for literary analysis.
- Proficient in online teaching platforms and educational technology.
