Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Master Monument Mason to join our team, specializing in the design and construction of custom monuments and memorials. This role is essential in ensuring the highest standards of craftsmanship and quality while maintaining a deep respect for the materials and the heritage they represent.
Responsibilities
- Lead the fabrication, installation, and restoration of stone monuments, ensuring adherence to project specifications and quality standards.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their vision and translate it into detailed stonework designs.
- Oversee the selection and preparation of materials, ensuring optimal use of granite, marble, and other stones.
- Conduct site assessments to ensure proper installation and alignment of monuments.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment while adhering to all safety regulations and best practices.
- Train and mentor junior masons, promoting skill development and craftsmanship excellence within the team.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in monument masonry or a related field, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Expertise in stone carving techniques and knowledge of various stone types and their properties.
- Proven ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and project specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Preferred:
- Experience in historical restoration projects or custom artistic stonework.
- Certifications in masonry or stonework from recognized institutions.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Deep knowledge of masonry tools and equipment, including chisels, saws, and polishing tools.
- Familiarity with CAD software for design and layout planning.
- Understanding of the latest industry trends and techniques in monument masonry.
