Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Log Chipper Operator to join our dynamic operations team at [$COMPANY_NAME]. Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the log chipping team, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Operate and maintain log chipping machinery, including troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues as they arise.
- Monitor production output and quality, making necessary adjustments to equipment and processes to meet production goals.
- Train and mentor junior operators in safe operating procedures, maintenance best practices, and quality control measures.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and work areas to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with management and other departments to develop and improve operational processes and workflows.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience as a log chipper operator, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of log chipping machinery and processes, including maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.
- Proven ability to lead a team and effectively communicate with diverse groups of employees.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate heavy machinery.
Preferred:
- Experience in a manufacturing or forestry-related environment.
- Certification in safety management or related fields.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainability practices in logging operations.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in operating and maintaining log chippers, feed systems, and other related equipment.
- Proficient in using basic computer systems for production tracking and reporting.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in heavy machinery operation.
