Role Overview
[$COMPANY_NAME] is hiring a senior Creative Director (Web Design) to lead cross-functional design strategy, craft high-impact digital experiences, and own the end-to-end web design lifecycle. You will set the design vision, translate brand strategy into scalable design systems, and partner tightly with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Data to deliver measurable improvements in conversion, engagement, accessibility, and performance across web and headless channels. This is a senior leadership role responsible for creative strategy, team development, and delivering production-ready assets and front-end specifications driven by modern web technologies.
Responsibilities
- Lead and evolve the web design vision and execution across marketing sites, product landing pages, customer portals, and campaign micro-sites with clear success metrics (conversion, engagement, bounce rate, Core Web Vitals)
- Architect and operationalize a scalable design system (tokens, components, documentation) compatible with React/Next.js, component libraries, and headless CMS workflows
- Translate brand and product strategy into high-fidelity UI/UX deliverables: design systems, responsive layouts, interaction patterns, motion principles, and microcopy guidance
- Own creative roadmap and prioritize initiatives using quantitative and qualitative signals (analytics, session replay, user research, A/B testing)
- Partner with Engineering to produce pixel-accurate, performant front-end implementations; provide production-ready specs, CSS/SCSS variables, accessibility audits, and performance budgets
- Drive accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA), internationalization (i18n), and SEO best practices into design workflows to ensure inclusive experiences and organic discoverability
- Hire, mentor, and develop senior designers, UX researchers, and visual designers; establish career ladders, design reviews, and cross-discipline mentorship
- Lead creative reviews, maintain ADRs (Architecture Decision Records) for design choices, and document trade-offs between UX, performance, and business objectives
- Oversee vendor and agency relationships for large-scale launches and campaigns; set KPIs and performance expectations
- Represent design in executive forums; present work, roadmap, and business impact to stakeholders and board-level audiences
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of professional experience in digital design, with 5+ years in senior leadership or creative director roles leading web design teams
- Demonstrated ownership of web design strategy and outcomes for enterprise or high-growth consumer products with measurable results (improved conversion rate, reduced bounce, improved Lighthouse scores)
- Proven track record building and scaling design systems used by product engineering teams (tokens, component libraries, CI/CD integration)
- Expert-level proficiency in Figma, design system tooling, and prototyping; fluency translating designs to developers with clear specifications
