[$COMPANY_OVERVIEW]
Role Overview
[$COMPANY_NAME] is hiring a senior Creative Director (Web Design) to lead strategy, design and delivery of global web experiences. You will define the visual and interaction direction for multi-channel digital products, own the web design system, and partner with engineering, product, marketing, and analytics to translate business objectives into measurable web experiences. This is a leadership role combining end-to-end UX/UI design strategy, technical web production oversight (HTML/CSS/JS), performance and accessibility governance, and team mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Lead and evolve the global web design strategy, aligning visual systems, information architecture, and interaction patterns to product and marketing goals.
- Own and scale a componentized web design system (Figma + coded component library) to ensure consistency across React/Next.js applications and marketing sites.
- Architect cross-functional workflows between Design, Frontend Engineering, Product Management, SEO, and Content to deliver frequent, measurable releases.
- Define and enforce standards for accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA+), inclusive design, performance budgets (Lighthouse scores, Time to Interactive, CLS), and SEO best practices.
- Review and approve high-fidelity designs, prototypes, and HTML/CSS/JS implementations; sign off on visual QA and production readiness.
- Partner with engineering to establish CI/CD handoffs for frontend assets, optimize bundling and caching strategies (code-splitting, HTTP/2, CDN configuration), and reduce front-end regressions.
- Drive data-informed design by defining KPIs, running A/B tests, and iterating on conversion funnels using analytics (Google Analytics 4, Segment, Amplitude) and experimentation platforms.
- Recruit, mentor, and manage a distributed team of senior designers, UX researchers, content designers, and frontend production designers; set career progression and performance metrics.
- Represent design leadership in executive planning; produce architecture decision records (ADRs) for major UI/UX and technical design choices.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of professional design experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role (Creative Director, Head of Design, or similar) delivering enterprise or consumer web products.
- Demonstrable portfolio of complex web systems and measurable outcomes (conversion lift, engagement, performance improvements).
- Deep expertise in responsive web design, modern frontend stack (HTML5, CSS3, SASS/SCSS, JavaScript/TypeScript) and component-driven development with frameworks such as React, Next.js, or similar.
- Practical knowledge of integrating design tools and workflows (Figma, Storybook, Design Tokens, Git-based workflows) with engineering pipelines.
- Proven experience owning accessibility programs and implementing WCAG-compliant patterns at scale.
- Strong analytical ability: experience defining KPIs, running experiments (A/B/n), and using analytics/observability tools to inform design decisions.
- Exceptional cross-functional leadership skills; track record of influencing exec stakeholders and delivering cross-org initiatives.
Preferred:
- Experience with headless CMS architectures, Jamstack, and static-site generation (e.g., Gatsby, Next.js ISR).
- Hands-on experience with performance optimization techniques (image optimization, critical CSS, resource hints) and observability tools (Lighthouse CI, WebPageTest, Sentry, Datadog RUM).
- Familiarity with design system governance and open-source contribution practices.
- Certifications or formal training in accessibility, UX research, or product analytics.
