Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Vice President of Government Affairs to lead our advocacy initiatives and enhance our influence within governmental bodies. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for shaping our public policy agenda, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring our organization is well-positioned to navigate the complex regulatory landscape.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive government affairs strategy that aligns with our organizational goals and mission.
- Build and maintain relationships with federal, state, and local government officials, policymakers, and industry associations.
- Advocate for our interests by representing the organization in legislative hearings, coalitions, and public forums.
- Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments that impact the organization, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Lead a team of government affairs professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on public policy objectives and advocacy efforts.
- Develop and implement communication strategies to effectively convey our positions on key issues to external audiences.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 15+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or related fields, with a proven track record of success.
- Demonstrated understanding of the legislative process and experience in advocacy at various levels of government.
- Strong network of relationships with key governmental stakeholders and experience in coalition-building.
Preferred:
- Experience working in a regulated industry or with organizations that have complex policy needs.
- Advanced degree in public policy, law, or a related field.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in policy analysis tools and software for tracking legislation and regulatory changes.
- Experience with strategic communication platforms and advocacy management software.
