Role Overview
We are seeking a distinguished academic leader for the position of Endowed Chair in Ethics. This role is integral to advancing our mission of fostering ethical scholarship and cultivating a culture of integrity within the academic community. As an authority in ethical theory and practice, you will spearhead innovative research initiatives, mentor emerging scholars, and collaborate with diverse disciplines to address contemporary ethical challenges.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a robust research agenda that explores pressing ethical issues across various fields, including technology, healthcare, and social justice.
- Design and deliver graduate-level courses, integrating interdisciplinary approaches to ethics and promoting critical thinking.
- Establish partnerships with academic institutions, industry leaders, and community organizations to enhance the impact of ethical scholarship.
- Mentor faculty and students, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages ethical inquiry and academic rigor.
- Organize and participate in conferences, workshops, and public lectures to disseminate research findings and engage with broader audiences.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the ethics program, aligning initiatives with institutional goals and societal needs.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Philosophy, Ethics, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated record of scholarly excellence, including publications in top-tier journals and successful grant applications.
- Strong pedagogical skills with experience teaching at the graduate level.
- Proven ability to engage with diverse communities and foster inclusive academic environments.
Preferred:
- Experience in interdisciplinary research collaborations that address complex ethical issues.
- Prior involvement in leadership roles within academic or professional organizations.
- Established network and relationships with stakeholders in relevant fields.
