Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Environmental Economist to drive innovative research and analysis in the field of environmental economics. In this role, you will lead complex projects aimed at informing policy decisions that enhance sustainability and environmental stewardship. You will utilize advanced economic modeling and data analysis to provide insights that shape environmental policies and practices, contributing to a sustainable future.
Responsibilities
- Lead interdisciplinary research teams to assess the economic impacts of environmental policies and regulations
- Develop and implement advanced economic models to evaluate ecosystem services and natural resource management
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses to inform decision-making processes at local, national, and international levels
- Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to develop evidence-based recommendations for policy improvements
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present insights at conferences and stakeholder meetings
- Mentor junior economists and contribute to capacity-building initiatives within the organization
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Environmental Economics, Resource Economics, or related field
- 10+ years of relevant experience in economic research or policy analysis
- Proven track record of leading large-scale research projects and publishing in high-impact journals
- Expertise in statistical analysis and econometric modeling
Preferred:
- Experience working with governmental and international organizations on environmental policy issues
- Strong understanding of climate economics and natural resource management
- Familiarity with GIS and spatial analysis tools
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in statistical software such as R, Stata, or Python for data analysis
- Experience in developing economic models and simulations
- Familiarity with database management and data visualization tools
