Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and visionary Chief of EMS to lead our Emergency Medical Services division. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and execution of innovative EMS programs, advancing our mission to provide exceptional pre-hospital care, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while promoting a culture of excellence.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategy:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the EMS division that aligns with the organization's mission and vision.
- Provide leadership and direction to the EMS team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Engage with community stakeholders, health systems, and regulatory bodies to enhance EMS services and drive community health initiatives.
Operational Excellence:
- Oversee the operational performance of the EMS division, ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Implement evidence-based practices and innovative technologies to improve service delivery, operational efficiency, and patient outcomes.
- Manage budgetary and financial performance, ensuring responsible allocation of resources and sustainable growth.
Quality Assurance and Training:
- Develop and maintain quality assurance and improvement programs to monitor performance metrics and patient care outcomes.
- Lead training and development initiatives for EMS personnel, ensuring high levels of competency and skill in emergency medical care.
- Promote a culture of safety, ensuring adherence to protocols and enhancing the overall safety of both patients and staff.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in emergency medical services or healthcare management.
- Strong understanding of EMS regulations, policies, and best practices.
- Proven track record of managing large teams and driving organizational change.
Preferred:
- Experience in a senior leadership role within a healthcare system, particularly in emergency services.
- Advanced certifications in EMS (e.g., Paramedic, EMT) and leadership (e.g., Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives).
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in EMS management software and electronic health records (EHR).
- Experience with data analytics tools to assess performance metrics and drive quality improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with telemedicine and mobile health technologies as they relate to EMS.
