Role Overview
We are seeking an Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator to lead our efforts in delivering high-quality educational services for children with special needs. This role is critical in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee early childhood special education services, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Collaborate with educators, therapists, and families to develop and implement effective IEPs tailored to the unique needs of each child.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine the educational needs and eligibility of children for special education services.
- Provide training and support to teaching staff on best practices in early childhood special education, including strategies for differentiation and inclusion.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of special education programs, making adjustments as necessary to meet the evolving needs of students.
- Act as a liaison between families, educators, and community resources to enhance support for children with special needs.
- Stay abreast of current research and legislation related to early childhood special education to inform practice and policy.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
- Valid state certification in Special Education or Early Childhood Education.
- 3+ years of experience working with young children with special needs, including experience in an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance.
Preferred:
- Experience in a leadership or coordinator role within early childhood special education.
- Familiarity with various assessment tools and methodologies for children with disabilities.
- Experience with data collection and analysis to inform program improvement.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in using educational technology tools to support learning and communication.
- Experience with data management systems for tracking student progress and compliance.
- Knowledge of assistive technology options for children with special needs.
