Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and passionate Assistant Conservation Science Officer to support our mission of protecting and restoring biodiversity. In this role, you will assist in conducting scientific research, data analysis, and fieldwork to inform conservation strategies and policies. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and conservationists to implement innovative solutions that positively impact ecosystems and communities.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and implementation of research projects related to conservation science and biodiversity management
- Collect, analyze, and interpret ecological data using statistical software and methodologies
- Conduct field surveys and ecological assessments to monitor wildlife populations and habitats
- Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders
- Collaborate with local communities and organizations to promote conservation initiatives and education
- Support grant writing and fundraising efforts to secure funding for conservation projects
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Conservation Science, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field
- 1-3 years of experience in a conservation or research role, including fieldwork experience
- Proficient in data analysis tools such as R, Python, or similar statistical software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Experience with geographic information systems (GIS) and spatial analysis
- Knowledge of local flora and fauna
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis techniques
- Familiarity with remote sensing technologies and ecological modeling
- Experience with field sampling methods and protocols
