Solutions Architecture and Development Manager
Full time (35 hrs/wk), permanent
Split place of work between Horizons (Reading, Berkshire) and Home, with up to three days a week working from home
Salary circa £55,000 pa plus benefits
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to undertake a new role within our Technology team. As the Solutions Architecture and Development Manager, you will play an integral role in providing strategic and technical leadership for application development and AI-driven solutions across the University. You will be responsible for the line management of a team of Developers and AI/Python specialists, offering advice and guidance when required and ensuring all solutions are secure, scalable, and maintainable. This is a really exciting time of growth for the University, and we need your expertise to ensure our systems are as effective and as efficient as possible.
Your accountabilities and responsibilities include:
- Define and maintain solution architecture principles, patterns, and guardrails for enterprise applications, integrations, and data flows
- Work collaboratively with team members to maintain a coherent technical architecture
- Lead the adoption of AI and machine learning capabilities
- Lead the design and implementation of secure and scalable integrations across the Universitys application ecosystem
Our main requirements:
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Track record of leading development teams and delivering complex application or integration projects
- Significant experience designing or architecting enterprise software solutions
- Strong architectural understanding of application design, API standards, secure coding, and integration patterns
