About SonoSim & The Role

At SonoSim, we create user-friendly digital experiences that transform medical education and improve healthcare outcomes. Our engineering team is a bright, motivated, and highly collaborative group. We partner closely across product and design stakeholders to deliver high-quality software that solves real-world needs for medical professionals and institutions.

We are seeking a mid-level Full Stack Software Engineer (4+ years experience) to build, ship, and scale core features across the SonoSim LMS platform. Working alongside Lead, Senior, and Junior Engineers, you will navigate between projects and repositories with minimal oversight. You thrive in modern, AI-assisted development workflows and enjoy driving features from database schema design to polished user interfaces.

Core Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Feature Delivery: Own features across our primary stack—from database schema design and migrations in Prisma to backend logic (Express, tRPC) and modern UI delivery (Angular 19 with Signals).
  • Cross-Service Integration: Maintain cross-service awareness and navigate legacy services (Python, Django, GraphQL, REST APIs) as needed.
  • AI-Assisted Engineering Velocity: Leverage AI tools (Kiro, Claude, Codex) for rapid prototyping and boilerplate generation, applying human oversight for code quality and architectural standards.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Ensure end-to-end feature integrity by validating API-to-UI handshakes, covering edge cases, and delivering maintainable code adhering to DRY/SOLID principles.
  • Agile Teamwork & Practices: Maintain shared documentation and actively participate in team ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, code reviews) to foster continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional full-stack web development experience with demonstrated autonomy across multiple repositories.
  • Frontend & Backend Expertise: Hands-on experience with modern frontend frameworks (Angular 19 or React/Vue) and Node.js backends (Express).
  • APIs & ORMs: Proficiency with type-safe APIs (tRPC), ORMs (Prisma), and relational database management/migrations.
  • Legacy Support: Familiarity with REST, Python, Django, and/or GraphQL for service maintenance.
  • AI Tooling & Review: Comfort using AI-assisted coding tools paired with critical code review skills.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong communication skills with a team-first, pragmatic mindset for collaborative development.
Salary: $120,000 – $130,000 / year

SonoSim builds a comprehensive ultrasound education ecosystem for healthcare professionals, students, educators, and institutions. Its platform combines more than 85 on-demand ultrasound courses with case-based study tools, SPI exam preparation, virtual patient scanning, and real pathologic cases. The SonoSimulator provides hands-on ultrasound practice, while SonoSim LiveScan supports teaching and assessing how learners acquire and interpret ultrasound images and apply findings in medical decision-making.

The ecosystem extends beyond individual learning through ultrasound-guided procedure practice, curriculum integration, onboarding resources, and performance tracking and assessment tools. SonoSim serves sonography programs, medical schools, residency and fellowship programs, advanced practice provider programs, hospitals, medical groups, simulation centers, military organizations, and individual healthcare providers. Its products are designed to expand access to ultrasound instruction, strengthen practical skills, standardize training, and support better clinical decisions without requiring every learner to depend on physical equipment or fixed laboratory schedules.
