The Junior Software Developer (Industry Placement) supports the delivery of high-quality software that brings the SFG20 standard and our expertise to life. The role contributes to real development work under the guidance of experienced developers and provides valuable hands-on industry experience as part of a 12-month university placement.
Requirements
- Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of software features using JavaScript, Node.js, and related technologies.
- Work collaboratively within an agile (Kanban) development team, taking part in planning, stand-ups, and team discussions.
- Assist with refining user stories and implementing changes based on business and technical requirements.
- Participate in code reviews, both receiving and providing feedback under the guidance of senior developers.
- Support the development and maintenance of automated tests to help ensure software quality and reliability.
- Assist with troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving application issues, escalating where appropriate.
- Gain exposure to deployment, release, and monitoring processes in a production environment.
- Work closely with developers, testers, and other teams to understand how software is delivered in a commercial setting.
- Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing within the development team.
- Continuously develop technical skills and apply university learning to real-world software development challenges.
