The Senior Data & Automation Developer will have expertise in Microsoft Azure, Power Automate, Python, SQL, and API integrations to lead the design and implementation of scalable business applications. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex problems, automating processes, and delivering secure, high-performance solutions that connect systems and streamline operations. The Senior Data & Automation Developer will play a key role in both hands-on development and technical leadership, mentoring junior team members while ensuring projects align with business goals and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications and integrations across cloud and on-premises environments
  • Build, optimize, and automate workflows using Power Automate to improve business processes
  • Develop robust Python applications for data processing, automation, and backend services
  • Write efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts to manage and analyze complex datasets
  • Design and implement secure and reliable API integrations between internal and external systems
  • Deploy, manage, and monitor applications in Microsoft Azure environments – specifically Function Apps
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Ensure application security, performance, and scalability best practices are followed
  • Provide technical leadership, mentor junior developers, and support peer code reviews
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and recommend solutions to improve system efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services (App Services, Logic Apps, Functions, Azure SQL, etc.)
  • Proven expertise in Power Automate workflow development
  • Proficiency in Python for automation, data processing, and backend development
  • Advanced SQL skills, including query optimization and database design
  • Experience in RESTful API design, integration, and troubleshooting
  • Solid understanding of application security, authentication, and authorization standards (OAuth, Azure AD, etc.)
  • Experience with Agentic AI platforms such as Copilot Studio or ChatGPT Agent
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps and DevOps best practices preferred
  • Familiarity with Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps) preferred
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) preferred
  • Experience mentoring or leading a small development team preferred

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in the field of computer science, information systems, networking, information security, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience
  • Less than 25% travel to Rea offices
