The Opportunity The Strategic Partnerships & Licensing Specialist (Licensing Rights Manager) will lead the development and execution of upfront licensing strategy to maximize revenue and expand market reach. This role is responsible for managing licensing sales, building a competitive product portfolio, and driving business growth through innovative marketing and usage opportunities. The position also includes oversight of account management functions such as invoicing and accounts receivable. This role is pivotal in transforming content assets into revenue streams and scaling Postmedia’s upfront licensing solutions. By expanding product offerings, optimizing pricing, and leveraging marketing, this individual directly contributes to revenue growth and the strategic expansion of internet-based sales products. They will also support new and existing B2B accounts.
What you'll do:
Licensing Sales & Growth
- Drive upfront licensing sales across multiple content formats (text, photo, PDF, video).
- Identify and target new opportunities to grow business by Year 1 and double margin in Year 2.
Product Development & Marketing
- Build out the product offering and manage the portfolio to meet evolving market needs.
- Develop marketing strategies to attract new clients and expand usage.
Guidelines & Usage Opportunities
- Update licensing guidelines and usage policies to scale business efficiently.
- Create frameworks for new usage opportunities across platforms.
Content & Rights Management
- Catalogue and manage the content archive, ensuring accurate metadata and accessibility.
- Oversee usage rights and ensure compliance with licensing agreements.
- Set competitive pricing models for licensed content.
- Manage rights clearance and permissions for all content types.
Database Expertise
- Utilize and maintain content databases for full-text, photo, PDF, and video assets.
Account Management
- Manage client accounts, including invoicing and tracking accounts receivable.
- Collaborate with finance teams to maintain accurate records and reporting.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Revenue Growth: Achieve targeted year-over-year revenue increase through upfront licensing sales.
- Expansion of Internet Sales Products: Successfully launch and grow new digital licensing products to capture emerging online markets.
Who you are:
- Proven experience in content licensing, rights management, or related field.
- Strong understanding of content databases and digital asset management.
- Excellent negotiation and pricing strategy skills.
- Familiarity with invoicing systems and accounts receivable processes.
- Ability to develop and execute growth strategies in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and cataloguing skills.
