About the Role
PolicyBind is seeking an experienced Backend Developer with strong expertise in Node.js and PostgreSQL to join our growing development team. In this role, you’ll design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems that power our web applications and core infrastructure. You’ll work on meaningful problems, take ownership of your work, and collaborate with teammates to deliver reliable systems and well-performing APIs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust, high-performance backend services using Node.js and PostgreSQL.
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs to support web and mobile applications.
- Develop and manage asynchronous job systems to handle large-scale background processing.
- Take ownership of problems end-to-end — investigating, coordinating, and iterating with team members on practical solutions.
- Ensure system scalability, reliability, and maintainability through effective architecture and sound engineering judgment.
- Continuously improve application performance and optimize database queries.
- Prioritize rapid iteration and efficient delivery over excessive process or perfectionism.
- 5–10 years of experience in SQL development with PostgreSQL.
- 5–10 years of experience in Node.js backend development.
- Strong understanding of async job system patterns and message queues.
- Proven experience in building RESTful APIs and backend microservices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering effective, scalable solutions.
- Values speed, iteration, and adaptability over heavy testing frameworks or rigid process adherence.
- Self-starter who enjoys working autonomously while communicating effectively with a small, focused team.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment workflows.
