We’re looking for an organized, proactive, and adaptable Compliance Associate to own escalations related to bind subjectivities, clear post-bind flagged filings, and ensure inspection compliance of critical recommendations. You will work closely with our offshore review team, agents, vendors, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues quickly and ensure all compliance items are accurate prior to bind.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys fast-paced problem-solving, working cross-functionally, and taking full ownership of their work. - Partner with Ascend on pre-bind payment issues related to Salesforce integration, billing type, loan adjustments, and agency fee updates.
- Review and execute on inspection findings—including recommendation clearance, midterm rerates, appetite concerns, and inspection ordering where needed.
- Clear flagged state filings escalations from InsCipher or state portals.
- Manage audit escalations that require agent or carrier intervention.
- Partner with internal regional teams, carriers, and vendors to clarify and fulfill binding + post-inspection requirements.
- Maintain and create SOPs as workflows evolve.
- Identify trends and propose process improvements to improve compliance efficiency across subjectivity review, flagged filings, inspections, and audits.
What we look for:
- 3+ years of underwriting experience
- Strong knowledge of surplus-lines compliance regulations, with experience in adjacent compliance functions (auditing, risk management, or similar).
- Familiarity with inspection report review, diligent effort forms, state filings, and end-to-end compliance workflows.
- Strong time management, organization, and attention to detail with the ability to meet SLAs across multiple workflows.
- Proactive problem-solver who learns quickly and adapts to new systems and evolving processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Positive, collaborative, and team-focused
- Ability to work both independently and cross-functionally
- Experience with Salesforce, Ascend, Front, and InsCipher (preferred)
What Success Looks Like
- Faster, smoother binding with fewer escalations and quicker resolution.
- Improved filing accuracy, reduced rework, and streamlined processes.
- Underwriters and offshore teams are supported and have more capacity.
- You contribute ideas and adapt as automation and AI expand the role.
What we offer
- Competitive compensation, equity, and healthcare packages
- Remote-first working environment while investing in in-person collaboration
- Annual home office stipend
- Monthly WiFi stipend
- 20 days paid time off
- Paid parental leave
