About Orange Sky
Orange Sky exists to support Australians who are facing challenges in their lives, including homelessness, financial hardship, limited access to laundry facilities or temporary displacement due to a natural disaster. We are committed to being there when it’s needed most, offering free laundry services, warm showers and friendly chats with our volunteers. Our People & Safety Team builds the strong, supportive foundations that make everything at Orange Sky possible. Creating safe, inclusive, and empowering environments for our staff and volunteers so every team member can focus on providing support for those who need it most.
The Role
At Orange Sky, we believe that the right knowledge empowers our people to create genuine connections and provide consistent, safe support to our friends on the street. As we expand our impact, we are looking for a creative and organised Learning & Development Coordinator to design and deliver the learning experiences that fuel our mission.
Reporting to the Senior Manager - People Experience & Safety, you will be the architect of our training resources. This is a part-time contract position (4 days per week) through September 2027, perfect for someone who thrives on turning technical knowledge into engaging, accessible content for volunteers and employees a like.
In a nutshell, the Learning & Development Coordinator will:
Drive Operational Excellence
You will use tools like Articulate Rise to build interactive digital modules that prioritise safety and efficiency on every shift. From developing refresher training schedules to ensuring all mandatory compliance milestones are met, you’ll make sure our teams are sharp, safe, and ready for the real world.
Empower Our People
You aren’t just creating slides; you’re building professional pathways. You will lead the rollout of key initiatives like The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and design specialised training for our team leaders and managers. By conducting gap analyses, you’ll identify where skills can be strengthened and design the interventions needed to bridge those gaps.
Collaborate & Coordinate
Learning doesn't happen in a vacuum. You will work closely with the Volunteer Experience and Communications teams to ensure training reaches our volunteers at exactly the right time. You’ll also manage the administrative heartbeat of the department maintaining training calendars, managing budgets, and partnering with external providers to add depth to our learning library.
Convinced this is the role for you? Tick some boxes!
- Experience: You have 3+ years in L&D, facilitation, or HR, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Tech Savvy: You are proficient with online authoring tools (specifically RISE/Articulate) and have experience navigating Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Qualified: You hold a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (or equivalent) and ideally a relevant tertiary qualification.
- Communicator: You possess high-level presentation skills and the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with everyone from senior leaders to frontline workers.
- Mission-Driven: You have a proactive, adaptable mindset and a genuine passion for the work Orange Sky does in the community.
