Myanma Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) stands as Myanmar's first and leading telecommunications operator, with a remarkable legacy spanning over 130 years in championing the development of the nation's telecom industry. Founded in 1884, the company has evolved from traditional postal services into a comprehensive provider of both fixed and mobile telecommunication services, connecting millions of people and enterprises across the country.
In July 2014, MPT entered into a landmark Joint Operations Agreement with KDDI Summit Global Myanmar (KSGM), backed by Japanese partners KDDI Corporation and Sumitomo Corporation, who committed over 2 billion dollars of investment over ten years. This partnership, among the largest Japanese investments in Myanmar's history, has accelerated the development of MPT's network infrastructure, enabling the deployment of Myanmar's largest 3G network and the country's fastest MIMO 4X4 powered 4G/LTE+ data services.
With a dedicated workforce of over 8,000 employees, MPT serves more than 21 million users nationwide, demonstrating its scale and reach in connecting communities throughout Myanmar. The company operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport and Communications as a state-owned enterprise, while maintaining operational excellence through its joint venture structure. Beyond telecommunications infrastructure, MPT actively contributes to Myanmar's social development through comprehensive CSR activities focused on education, healthcare, and business incubation, reflecting its commitment to moving Myanmar forward.
