Integrations Specialist - Job Description

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Backend Integrations Engineer with expertise in WSO2 to design,develop, and manage our API ecosystem. This role will be responsible for managing the APIdevelopment lifecycle, ensuring adherence to governance standards, optimizing API performance,and enabling seamless integrations across our digital landscape.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience in API development, security, and monitoring, alongwith a strong understanding of API governance, OpenAPI, RAML, JSON:API standards,
and Ballerina, the native language for WSO2 integrations.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain APIs using WSO2 API Manager, ensuring scalability, security, andhigh availability.
Define API contracts using OpenAPI, RAML, JSON:API, and other API definition standards.
Implement API policies, including authentication, authorization, throttling, rate limiting, andlogging.

Develop and maintain API documentation, ensuring clarity and usability for internal and externalstakeholders.
Establish and enforce API governance best practices to ensure consistency and standardization. Ensure compliance with security standards, including OAuth, JWT, and mutual TLS.

Define API versioning strategies to maintain backward compatibility and manage API lifecycle. Monitor and analyze API usage to optimize performance and detect anomalies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement integration solutions.
Work closely with DevOps teams to deploy APIs within CI/CD pipelines.

Optimize API Gateway configurations for performance, load balancing, and failover mechanisms. Provide guidance on API-led connectivity and microservices-based architectures.
Implement API monitoring and analytics solutions using WSO2 Analytics, ELK, or similar tools. Troubleshoot API performance issues and implement improvements.

Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure API effectiveness.
Work closely with product managers, architects, and business stakeholders to align API strategieswith business objectives.
Stay up to date with industry trends in API development, governance, and emerging technologies.

Requirements

At least five years of experience in API development and management, with expertise in WSO2API Manager
Strong knowledge of API design standards including OpenAPI, RAML, JSON:API.
Experience with API security best practices (OAuth 2.0, JWT, API keys, etc.).

Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Ballerina, Python, or Node.js.
Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and microservices architecture.
Hands-on experience in API analytics, logging, and monitoring tools.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-based API deployments. Familiarity with message queues, event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Ability to work in an agile, fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in both Spanish and English.
Experience leading API development teams or mentoring junior developers.

Nice to Have

Experience with WSO2 Identity Server for API security and identity management. Knowledge of SOAP APIs and legacy system integration
Experience working with enterprise integration patterns.
Familiarity with API monetization strategies.
