Position Description
We are seeking a motivated Operations Engineer with front-end development and design experience to take on specialized projects within Mechanism and our portfolio companies. This role focuses on building and optimizing web interfaces such as Product Detail Pages, dashboards, and internal tools that improve efficiency across teams, while combining technical expertise with an operational mindset to deliver projects that directly influence product, growth, and operations.
You will take on complex initiatives that involve learning and applying AI technologies in the startup space, while also researching and developing tools that support automation, analysis, and workflow improvement. This position offers significant opportunities for growth, learning, and meaningful impact across multiple areas of the business.
What You'll Do
- Build, test, and optimize front-end interfaces, including PDPs, dashboards, and internal tools.
- Integrate front-end solutions with APIs, databases, and automation tools.
- Work to offload a wide range of critical initiatives from Mechanism’s Practice Area Leads and from our portfolio companies.
- Lead AI implementations and experimentation using tools like OpenAI, MidJourney, Zapier, Airtable, etc.
- Analyze data and be able to present your insights as actionable recommendations.
- Transform and clean-up data using SQL and sometimes Python
- Conduct usability testing and create website mockups.
- Run usability tests and create website mockups as needed.
- Support additional projects as needed across Mechanism and our portfolio companies.

What You’ll Bring
- Proficiency in front-end development and design (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, plus experience with modern frameworks).
- Strong UI/UX sensibility with the ability to create intuitive and responsive designs.
- Comfort integrating front-end applications with APIs, databases, and automation tools.
- Strong analytical skills and enthusiasm for data-driven decision-making
- Familiarity with AI tools like OpenAI, MidJourney, Zapier, Airtable, etc.
- Familiarity with SQL in accessing and modifying databases.
- Proficiency in data visualization using Tableau, Looker, Power BI, or libraries like D3.js and Chart.js.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and handle multiple projects effectively.
- Eagerness to learn new tools and technologies.
- Ability to convey complex concepts and ideas in simple terms.
- Strong preference towards candidates with an Engineering or Computer Science / IT degree.
Time Commitment
- This role is full-time and will need to overlap with US ET for the majority of the workday.
