EU/UK Products Practice Attorney - Remote

Marten is expanding its internationalproducts practice and is seeking a lawyer who practices consumer products lawin the European Union and the United Kingdom. We are willing to considerattorneys of varying experience, but with at least three years of practice.

This position requires substantivefamiliarity with European Union and United Kingdom sustainability and productslaw matters. The successful candidate must have experience in advising globalcompanies on how to address the evolving regulatory environment concerningsustainability reporting, climate-related targets and disclosures, duediligence, and supply chain transparency requirements that span a broad rangeof sectors including apparel, footwear, textiles, outdoor gear, furniture, foodproducts, and more.

The successful applicant will:

• Advise global consumer product manufacturers, distributors, and retailers on their sustainability and product law matters.
  
• Determine data requirements, prepare testing protocols, and prepare notifications for chemical and other material disclosure requirements.
  
• Advise clients on relevant developments under REACH, EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation and the UK regimes, supply chain diligence under the EU CSRD, forced labor, deforestation, and product-related sustainability requirements such as ecodesign, chemical compliance, packaging, and recycling obligations.
  
• Advise clients on market access issues including product labeling, product notifications, and green marketing.

Requirements

• Licensed to Practice Law in the EU and/or UK.
  
• Are a high performer with 3+ years of experience in global sustainability and product law matters.
  

• Are an exceptional writer, with experience as the primary author of legal memoranda, briefs, motions, discovery, contracts, regulatory agreements, and/or substantive policy articles and commentary.
  
• Are an efficient, creative, and effective legal researcher, with experience researching environmental, product stewardship, or administrative law and regulatory requirements at the international level.
  
• Are an effective collaborator and marketer with a passion or building a practice in an emerging field.
  

Have substantial experience:

• Representing private sector clients seeking to navigate sustainability and product regulatory matters;
  
• Representing private sector clients in transactional, administrative, or reporting/disclosure related matters involving sustainability and product law.
  

Other Essential Job Duties

• Marten Law attorneys must be able to regularly travel globally to accomplish legal work (client meetings, industry conferences, and site visits) for our clients.
  
• Our billable hour expectation is 1850 billable hours a year. This will require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of this position. The expectation is that this person will devote, on average, 37+ hours a week on billable job functions and another 7+ hours a week on non-billable activities (firm administration, marketing, professional development, newsletter articles, supervising others).
