At LiquidStack, we’re redefining what’s possible in the data center world. As a global leader in advanced liquid cooling solutions, we’re powering the future of AI, edge computing, and high-performance systems. Our team is growing, and we’re looking for skilled professionals who want to be part of something innovative and impactful.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Field Applications Engineer is an externally focused technical sales professional who bridges customer needs, commercial strategy, and LiquidStack’s advanced liquid cooling technologies. This role supports the commercial sales organization by providing technical expertise, solution scoping, cost estimation, and customer education throughout the pre-sales cycle.

Acting as an “outside applications engineer,” the Field Applications Engineer engages directly with engineering consultants, contractors, partners, and end users to influence specifications, build technical credibility, and drive revenue growth. The role requires strong technical depth, commercial acumen, and the ability to independently represent LiquidStack in customer-facing environments.

Role Purpose

  • Serve as a proactive, externally focused technical seller who increases market awareness and positions LiquidStack as a trusted solution provider.
  • Act as a technical educator and commercial influencer with key stakeholders, including engineering consultants, general contractors, and operators.
  • Translate customer technical requirements into commercially viable solutions that support sales growth and long-term customer adoption.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer & Market-Facing Responsibilities

  • Proactively engage with:
    • Engineering consultants
    • General contractors
    • Strategic partners and system integrators
  • Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and “lunch & learn” sessions to educate the market on LiquidStack technologies and solutions.
  • Influence project specifications so LiquidStack solutions are included in consultant recommendations and shortlists.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable technical resource capable of answering customer questions in real time with minimal escalation.

Technical Sales & Solution Development

  • Support the commercial sales team with:
    • Technical solution scoping
    • Product configuration recommendations
    • Cost estimation and implementation effort assessments
  • Analyze customer technical specifications and requirements to recommend optimal LiquidStack solutions.
  • Develop layouts, conceptual designs, and technical documentation in collaboration with Applications Engineering.
  • Review sales proposals for technical accuracy, completeness, and alignment with customer needs.
  • Provide input on product positioning, competitive differentiation, and solution feasibility.

Technical & Commercial Blend

  • Demonstrate sufficient technical depth to independently engage engineering consultants and contractors.
  • Discuss system concepts, architecture, and integration without constant escalation to Engineering.
  • Operate with a strong commercial mindset, balancing technical rigor with sales efficiency and customer value.
  • Function as an externally facing extension of Applications Engineering with a clear revenue focus.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work closely with:
    • Commercial Sales team
    • Applications Engineers and Technical Leads for advanced technical support
    • Product and Engineering teams for feedback and continuous improvement
  • Share market insights, customer feedback, and competitive intelligence with internal stakeholders.
  • Initially report into the technical/commercial leadership structure, with flexibility as the organization scales.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).

Experience

  • 2–4 years of experience as a Sales Engineer, Junior Sales Engineer, Applications Engineer, or similar technical sales role.
  • Experience in supporting pre-sales activities in:
    • Data centers
    • Technology infrastructure
    • Building systems, HVAC, or industrial/process cooling environments
  • Demonstrated ability to ramp quickly into customer-facing technical credibility (not an entry-level trainee role).

TECHNICAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Technical sales and solution selling
  • Requirements analysis and technical specification review
  • Cost estimation and proposal support
  • Product demonstrations and technical presentations
  • Customer training and education
  • Troubleshooting and technical problem-solving
  • Understanding of mechanical, thermal, or infrastructure systems (liquid cooling experience preferred)
  • Ability to interpret drawings, layouts, and system architectures

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Remote role with regular regional travel (US or EMEA).
  • Ability to cover broader territories as needed (including international travel).
  • Valid passport and driver’s license required.

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive pay with opportunities for overtime
  • Consistent day-shift schedule
  • Paid time off, holidays, and great benefits
  • Be part of an industry-disrupting company with room to grow
  • Work on innovative technologies in a collaborative, supportive environment

LiquidStack is a global leader in advanced liquid cooling solutions for data centers, specializing in both immersion cooling and direct-to-chip cooling technologies. Founded in 2012, the company originally began as a Bitcoin mining firm called Allied Control Limited in Hong Kong before pivoting to focus on enterprise liquid cooling solutions. The company is now headquartered in Carrollton, Texas, with its U.S. operations based in North Texas, and has emerged as the world's most respected leader in liquid immersion cooling for information technology hardware, telecommunications, and blockchain systems.

The company provides next-generation cooling solutions to many of the world's largest cloud services, semiconductor manufacturers, and IT hardware providers. LiquidStack's technology enables data centers to cool servers without traditional air conditioning, IT fans, bulky heat sinks, chillers, or air distribution systems. Their advanced liquid cooling technology uses less energy, space, and materials while enabling higher computing densities required for AI workloads, high-performance computing, and hyperscale data center operations. In 2026, Trane Technologies completed the acquisition of LiquidStack, integrating the company's high-performance liquid cooling solutions with Trane's end-to-end thermal expertise to accelerate liquid cooling technology for AI-driven data center demands.
