We are seeking a highly experienced Staff ML Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of large-scale LLM and NLP applications in a global, remote-first environment. In this role, you will shape the architecture and workflows of AI-driven systems that directly impact product operations and end-users. Collaborating with ML researchers, product managers, and engineering teams, you will create innovative solutions for retrieval-augmented generation, fine-tuning, and domain-specific AI applications. This role demands a balance of hands-on coding, strategic thinking, and mentorship, with opportunities to influence AI infrastructure and processes at scale. The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in LLMs, NLP, and production-grade ML systems with a passion for pushing the boundaries of AI in real-world applications.

Accountabilities

• Design, implement, and deploy LLM-powered applications to enhance core product offerings.
• Lead architecture decisions, cost optimization, and observability practices for AI workflows.
• Collaborate closely with ML researchers, engineers, and product teams to define and deliver impactful AI solutions.
• Build and maintain high-scale, production-grade ML pipelines and applications.
• Integrate vector databases and retrieval-augmented generation pipelines to support contextual AI features.
• Mentor team members and drive best practices in ML system design, reliability, and observability.
• Monitor and optimize model performance, ensuring scalability, robustness, and efficiency in production.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in software engineering or ML systems, with strong system design and architecture skills.
• Hands-on expertise in Python for ML/NLP development and familiarity with Node.js for integration with product systems.
• Deep experience with LLMs, NLP, information retrieval, and text processing algorithms.
• Production-grade experience deploying and fine-tuning large language models for domain-specific tasks.
• Strong understanding of vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, FAISS, Weaviate) and RAG pipelines.
• Knowledge of prompt engineering, LLM API integration, and AI system reliability patterns.
• Experience with observability, tracing, metrics, and cost optimization for AI workloads.
• Bonus: experience with LangChain/CrewAI, classical ML, multimodal AI systems, or FinTech applications.
