The Sr. Java Developer, Technical Lead will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and deploying enterprise-level Java applications in a cloud environment. This position combines hands-on software development with leadership responsibilities, including managing CI/CD pipelines, implementing DevOps best practices, and guiding project teams. The role requires collaboration with stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with business needs, while also staying ahead of emerging technologies and industry trends. The successful candidate will contribute to project planning, monitor progress through metrics, and continuously improve software processes. Operating in a remote-friendly environment, this role offers the opportunity to influence technical strategy, drive innovation, and mentor team members.

Accountabilities

  • Serve as Technical Lead and Sr. Java Developer on IT projects within federal government contexts.
  • Architect, maintain, and optimize software/infrastructure build, test, and deployment pipelines in AWS GovCloud.
  • Lead the creation and management of Pipelines, Data Integrations, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for CI/CD projects.
  • Implement improvements for secure software build, deployment, and monitoring processes.
  • Manage project sprints, releases, and associated KPIs and metrics.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and business teams to ensure project alignment and success.
  • Stay informed of market and industry trends to drive innovative solutions.
  • Support corporate growth activities, including technical proposals and assessments.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in Java application development.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in DevOps and cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a Technical Lead role overseeing teams and projects.
  • Strong understanding of design and architecture patterns, microservices architecture, and deployment processes.
  • Proficient with AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, Lambda, autoscaling) and cloud technologies including containers and serverless solutions.
  • Knowledge of Agile processes, DevOps engineering, and static code quality scanning tools (e.g., SonarQube).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with stakeholders and facilitating sprints.
  • Preferred: AWS Professional Certification (Solution Architect or DevOps Engineer), DHS Public Trust clearance, and federal government IT delivery experience.
