As a Software Engineering Manager for AI/ML, you will lead a talented team of engineers focused on developing advanced AI and machine learning solutions that directly impact customer experiences and business growth. You will oversee the architecture, design, and deployment of AI-driven platforms, mentor engineers, and drive operational excellence across engineering initiatives. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration, and product roadmap execution. You will work closely with product managers, data scientists, and global teams to ensure scalable, high-quality AI solutions that meet performance, reliability, and innovation standards. Your contributions will directly shape both team growth and the evolution of cutting-edge AI/ML products in a fast-paced, remote-friendly environment.
Accountabilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers, providing guidance on architecture, design, and code quality.
- Own AI/ML engineering pipelines, including modeling, feature engineering, model serving, and deployment.
- Drive engineering initiatives related to large-scale data platforms, search, recommendation systems, and AI reasoning models.
- Collaborate across global teams to deliver high-quality code, end-to-end solutions, and innovative products.
- Develop tactical plans, select appropriate technologies and frameworks, and build sprint backlogs and roadmaps in partnership with product and program managers.
- Champion engineering and operational excellence, focusing on automation, testing, efficiency, and quality.
- Ensure scalable, maintainable, and reliable AI/ML solutions are delivered on time and aligned with business objectives.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building and shipping AI/ML, data-intensive, or large-scale software products.
- 5+ years of people management experience, mentoring and managing engineers, and leading cross-functional teams including product, data, and science.
- Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks, large-scale data pipelines, and feature engineering.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, and Go, with strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, microservices, and cloud computing.
- Experience with distributed systems, cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), and CI/CD practices.
- Familiarity with search technologies, recommendation engines, and AI/ML model deployment and serving.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
