Senior Data Scientist (Remote - Canada)

Accountabilities:

• Collaborate with product teams to define testable hypotheses and theories of action for new features.
• Design, monitor, and analyze metrics to assess the success of initiatives and interventions.
• Perform exploratory data analyses to uncover insights into learner and teacher behavior.
• Apply statistical methods to quantify the impact of programs, features, and educational interventions.
• Communicate results effectively to non-technical audiences, enabling data-driven decision-making.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of self-service analytics tools for product teams.
• Work closely with engineering to maintain and improve data infrastructure, datasets, and reporting tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Applied Math, Statistics, Economics, or a related technical field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in data science or analytics roles.
• Strong proficiency with SQL and programming in Python or R.
• Expertise in statistical techniques, including multiple regression, causal inference, A/B testing, and hypothesis testing.
• Experience with data visualization and storytelling tools (e.g., Looker) to communicate insights effectively.
• Strong business intuition and judgment with the ability to ask insightful questions and drive impact.
• Prior experience in education or mission-driven organizations is a plus.
• Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders.
