This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of Tech9. We are currently looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (Python/AI) in Latin America.
This role offers the opportunity to design and maintain the backend infrastructure for AI-powered real-time applications. You will work on building robust systems that support live audio/video streaming, AI model deployment, and low-latency user interactions. Operating in a fast-paced, innovative environment, you will collaborate with AI engineers, software developers, and product teams to scale backend services efficiently and reliably. The position emphasizes technical excellence, problem-solving, and proactive contributions across multiple high-impact initiatives. You will help shape processes, optimize performance, and ensure stability in live, distributed systems. Accountabilities:
- Develop backend services in Python to support real-time communication using LiveKit and WebSockets.
- Build and maintain infrastructure that enables seamless deployment, monitoring, and scaling of AI features.
- Collaborate with AI engineers to integrate AI models into production environments.
- Optimize backend systems for low-latency and high reliability in multi-user live applications.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, Docker workflows, and cloud orchestration with Kubernetes and AWS.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and implement system improvements.
- Participate in technical planning, code reviews, and knowledge sharing across the team.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in backend or full-stack software engineering with a strong focus on Python.
- Experience with real-time systems, including WebRTC, LiveKit, or similar live streaming platforms.
- Proficiency with AWS (EC2, ECS, Lambda) and Kubernetes for cloud-native service orchestration.
- Solid experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and production debugging/monitoring.
- Familiarity with AI deployment processes and frameworks such as LangChain, LangFuse, Ray, or LLMOps tooling.
- Experience with low-latency, high-concurrency backend systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
- Nice to have: experience with event-driven architecture, asynchronous Python frameworks (FastAPI, asyncio), LMS, or high-concurrency platforms.
