Senior Backend Engineer (Python/GenAI) (Latam)

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and building the backend infrastructure that powers real-time AI-driven simulations. Working in a fast-paced, innovative environment, you will create scalable, low-latency services that support live, multi-user experiences, enabling AI models to operate seamlessly in production. You will collaborate closely with AI engineers, product teams, and cloud specialists to optimize systems for performance, reliability, and scalability. This is a hands-on, driver role where you will influence architecture, implement best practices, and contribute to multiple high-impact projects. Your work will directly impact the effectiveness of AI solutions used across education, healthcare, and business sectors throughout Latin America.

Accountabilities:

• Develop and maintain backend services in Python to support real-time AI and multi-user simulations.
• Implement low-latency communication systems using LiveKit, WebRTC, and WebSockets.
• Build scalable infrastructure for deploying, monitoring, and maintaining AI features in production.
• Collaborate with AI teams to integrate models into live environments effectively and reliably.
• Utilize AWS services (EC2, Lambda) and Kubernetes for orchestration, deployment, and scaling.
• Design tools and pipelines that improve efficiency and unblock AI and engineering teams.
• Optimize system performance, logging, and debugging across production environments.
• Take ownership of architecture, processes, and solutions, contributing ideas and driving improvements across projects.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend or full-stack software engineering, with strong Python expertise.
• Experience building real-time systems and low-latency AI interactions (LiveKit, WebRTC, or similar).
• Proven ability to scale backend services in distributed, production-grade environments.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services and Kubernetes for cloud-native orchestration.
• Proficiency with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and production debugging and performance optimization.
• Familiarity with AI integration frameworks such as LangChain, LangFuse, Ray, or LLMOps tooling.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaborative skills.
• Nice-to-have: experience with event-driven architectures, FastAPI, asyncio, or human-in-the-loop AI integrations.
