This role offers the opportunity to shape and secure multi-cloud environments in a fast-paced, innovative technology organization. You will design, implement, and maintain robust security controls across cloud platforms, including AWS and GCP, while leveraging automation and AI-driven tools to proactively detect and remediate risks. Collaborating closely with engineering teams, you will be responsible for vulnerability management, incident response, and operational reporting. This position balances hands-on technical work with strategic influence, ensuring systems are secure, compliant, and resilient. Accountabilities:
- Engineer and enforce security controls for AWS and GCP cloud environments, including IAM, logging, network segmentation, and firewall configurations.
- Identify misconfigurations, vulnerabilities, and security gaps, and implement scalable remediation solutions.
- Manage vulnerability assessments and provide clear reporting on risks and mitigation strategies.
- Respond to security alerts, refine detection logic, and serve as an escalation point for incidents.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure security controls align with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
- Provide operational reporting on security metrics, incident response times, and remediation progress.
- Partner across teams to embed security best practices into development and operational processes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in security engineering, information security operations, or related IT security roles.
- Strong experience with AWS, GCP, or both, including native security services and best practices.
- Proficiency in Linux administration and scripting (Python preferred).
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals.
- Experience maintaining audit readiness and compliance documentation (SOC 2, ISO 27001).
- Preferred: experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), Kubernetes/container security, threat hunting, or offensive security.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex security concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Prior experience in a fast-paced, remote-first technology environment is advantageous.
