Principal Software Engineer, Core Pricing (Remote - US)

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will lead the technical direction for a core pricing platform that drives revenue and optimizes financial outcomes across multiple product teams. You will architect and develop scalable backend services in Python, collaborate closely with ML, product, and capital teams, and influence key business decisions through data-driven insights. This role combines hands-on engineering with strategic leadership, allowing you to mentor engineers, design robust systems, and directly impact pricing strategies and monetization models. You will thrive in a dynamic, collaborative fintech environment where innovation, scalability, and measurable business impact are at the forefront.

Accountabilities

  • Lead the design and development of distributed backend systems in Python that power dynamic pricing and revenue models.
  • Translate high-level business objectives into concrete engineering initiatives.
  • Build experimentation infrastructure and collaborate with ML and capital teams for pricing optimization.
  • Architect reusable services exposing pricing logic across multiple product teams.
  • Serve as a thought partner to product and business leads, applying strong quantitative and business acumen.
  • Mentor engineers across the team, maintaining a high technical standard while remaining hands-on.
  • Ensure pricing systems evolve to meet fast-scaling fintech requirements without extending into DevOps scope.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including roles as Staff or Principal Engineer.
  • Proven experience building distributed backend systems in Python or similar languages.
  • Experience leading technical direction for platform teams serving multiple product surfaces.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect engineering efforts with business outcomes, particularly in revenue optimization or monetization.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, capable of interfacing with ML, product, and finance stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience launching experiments and interpreting their impact on revenue or growth metrics.
  • Preferred: experience in fintech, e-commerce, or other domains with complex pricing and monetization logic.
  • Preferred: background in applied math, financial modeling, or economics.
  • Familiarity with pricing engines, experimentation platforms, or fee optimization frameworks.
  • Passion for building platforms that empower other teams to move faster and make data-driven decisions.
