The Oracle Database Engineer III will provide advanced technical expertise and leadership in managing large-scale Oracle databases running on Unix/Linux platforms. This role focuses on optimizing database performance, ensuring data integrity, and supporting critical production environments with high-volume, multi-terabyte databases. The position involves designing innovative solutions, implementing disaster recovery strategies, and automating database management tasks to enhance efficiency. You will collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to troubleshoot complex issues and deploy robust database solutions. The ideal candidate has deep experience with Oracle Database Administration, cloud integration, and advanced scripting, and thrives in a dynamic environment with opportunities to influence system architecture and operational excellence.
Accountabilities:
- Lead and participate in the design and architecture of complex Oracle database systems.
- Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and migrate Oracle databases across Unix/Linux platforms.
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support for large-scale database projects.
- Develop and maintain Unix shell scripts to automate database administration tasks.
- Manage backups, restores, and disaster recovery planning, and monitor production databases proactively.
- Perform root cause analysis for complex issues and develop resolution strategies.
- Review and enforce policies, procedures, and best practices in database management.
- Provide 24x7 on-call support for production databases as required.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience managing multiple high-volume, multi-terabyte Oracle databases.
- Expertise in performance tuning, capacity planning, ASM, DataGuard, and GoldenGate.
- Proficiency in RMAN backup/recovery, Unix shell scripting, PL/SQL, and SQL.
- Experience with infrastructure systems including server, storage, and network management.
- Knowledge of MySQL, MSSQL Server, and MongoDB database administration is a plus.
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) preferred.
- Experience with cloud-based databases, such as AWS.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills, technical leadership, and the ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
