This role offers the opportunity to design and build a modern cloud platform that empowers development and operations teams to work faster, safer, and more autonomously. As a Lead DevOps Engineer III, you will architect and maintain containerized workloads, automate infrastructure with IaC, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to drive scalability and reliability. You will collaborate with engineering, security, and DevOps teams to deliver a self-service platform that improves developer experience while embedding security, compliance, and observability at every layer. Accountabilities
- Design, deploy, and manage containerized workloads on AWS ECS using Terraform and Spacelift to enable scalable, automated infrastructure.
- Build and enhance self-service developer platforms with Backstage, empowering engineering teams to deploy services autonomously.
- Implement best practices for observability, security, compliance, and reliability across multi-environment cloud systems.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for testing, security scanning, and zero-downtime deployments.
- Automate configuration and orchestration with Ansible to deliver repeatable and version-controlled infrastructure patterns.
- Embed role-based access control, policy enforcement, and security controls into infrastructure and workflows.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions while defining SLAs, SLOs, and incident response processes.
- Troubleshoot performance, availability, and scalability issues while supporting production and non-production environments.
Requirements
- Proven experience designing, migrating, and managing AWS ECS-based containerized environments in enterprise production settings.
- Expertise with Terraform for infrastructure as code, and experience using policy-as-code tools like Spacelift.
- Strong hands-on experience building automated CI/CD workflows with GitHub Actions.
- Knowledge of Backstage.io for creating self-service developer portals.
- Proficiency with Ansible for configuration management and infrastructure automation.
- Deep understanding of networking, IAM policies, secrets management, and cloud security best practices.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch or New Relic.
- Ability to resolve performance and scaling issues in cloud-native environments.
- Nice to have: experience with service mesh (Istio, Linkerd), FinOps cost optimization, SRE principles, and policy-as-code tools (OPA, Sentinel).
