This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Engineering Manager (Hands-on, Node & React, Headless API) in Europe.
This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on engineering leader to shape the technical direction of a fast-growing SaaS platform. You will combine coding expertise with team leadership to build scalable, fault-tolerant systems and headless APIs used by developers worldwide. The role offers the chance to make high-impact decisions, mentor a growing engineering team, and work closely with executive leadership to translate strategy into action. You will operate in a fully remote, high-trust environment with the autonomy to experiment, innovate, and drive improvements while maintaining near-100% system uptime. Ideal candidates are pragmatic, collaborative, and capable of balancing rapid delivery with long-term system reliability. This position also carries potential CTO scope for candidates with the right experience and aspirations.
Accountabilities
- Lead by example, coding daily and shipping production-quality features.
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant systems and APIs.
- Set and own technical direction, architecture, and system reliability.
- Make pragmatic decisions balancing innovation, risk, and uptime.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align product strategy with technical execution.
- Dive into customer issues and provide hands-on solutions when necessary.
- Mentor and grow a small engineering team (2–4 engineers), fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with proven impact at senior levels.
- Strong expertise in software design, architecture, cloud infrastructure, and distributed systems.
- Hands-on coding proficiency with NodeJS, React, Firebase, and API-driven architectures.
- Deep understanding of software quality practices, including testing, CI/CD, and documentation.
- Experience mentoring and developing engineering talent.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a remote-first, asynchronous environment.
- Pragmatic problem-solving mindset, balancing speed, quality, and maintainability.
