This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director of Engineering, Machine Learning and Simulations Platform in the United States.
This leadership role offers the opportunity to drive the vision and execution of a next-generation machine learning and simulations platform that powers large-scale AI applications. You will oversee the design, development, and operation of high-throughput, low-latency infrastructure for ML model training, inference, and simulation. Partnering with cross-functional teams across engineering, product, and research, you will ensure that the platform meets the growing complexity of ML workloads while delivering measurable business impact. The role requires both strategic vision and hands-on technical expertise, enabling you to mentor senior engineers, scale teams, and expand platform capabilities. Ideal candidates are experienced leaders in ML infrastructure, simulations, and distributed systems, passionate about solving challenging technical problems, and adept at influencing across diverse teams.
Accountabilities:
- Drive the technical vision and roadmap for ML and simulation platforms, enabling scalable, high-performance infrastructure.
- Lead modernization efforts for model training and inference systems, optimizing performance and reducing operational latency.
- Oversee the design and implementation of distributed platforms supporting neural networks, GPU training, and large-scale model hosting.
- Enhance simulation systems to accurately reflect production environments, improving cost efficiency and cross-team adoption.
- Collaborate with ML, engineering, product, and compliance teams to align strategy with business objectives and deliver measurable outcomes.
- Build, mentor, and scale a team of senior engineers and technical leads, fostering leadership and technical growth.
- Identify opportunities to expand platform capabilities, such as automated model refresh and simulation-driven product development.
Requirements
- 15+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading teams or organizations focused on ML infrastructure, simulations, or distributed systems.
- Proven track record of launching ML infrastructure or science-heavy products at scale, including model training, serving, and optimization.
- Strong systems and infrastructure expertise with experience designing high-throughput, low-latency ML workloads.
- Effective cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience managing senior engineers and aligning multiple cross-functional teams on technical strategy.
- Preferred: experience with regulated or science-heavy products, simulation platforms, experimentation frameworks, GPU-based training, containerized infrastructure, and financial modeling tools.
