We are seeking a Data Scientist specializing in workforce planning and scheduling to drive efficiency and operational excellence in mortgage and call center operations. In this role, you will design and implement intelligent staffing and scheduling systems that dynamically align workforce capacity with demand, optimize loan officer coverage, and ensure compliance with labor regulations. You will leverage predictive analytics, optimization algorithms, and automation tools to improve responsiveness, maximize revenue potential, and enhance customer experience. The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in workforce management with advanced technical skills in data science, modeling, and scheduling optimization. Accountabilities
As a Data Scientist – Workforce Planning & Scheduling, you will:
- Design and manage shift schedules and crew rotations that optimize productivity while ensuring compliance with licensing, labor laws, and internal policies.
- Develop and implement optimization models using constraint-based, linear, and mixed-integer approaches to enhance call center and mortgage operations.
- Create predictive models for staffing needs based on lead flow, loan volumes, historical trends, and marketing campaigns.
- Build dashboards and analytics tools to monitor schedule adherence, utilization, SLA compliance, and overall workforce efficiency.
- Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Technology teams to align workforce plans with business goals, seasonal trends, and customer demand.
- Partner with technology teams to implement real-time optimization, predictive analytics, and automated scheduling workflows.
- Continuously refine scheduling strategies using data-driven insights to improve operational outcomes and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Data Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 2+ years of experience in workforce optimization, crew scheduling, or operations planning in high-complexity environments such as BPOs, airlines, or hospitals.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation, modeling, and automation.
- Hands-on experience with optimization solvers like Gurobi, CPLEX, AMPL, or Google OR-Tools.
- Strong understanding of scheduling algorithms, constraint-based optimization, and workforce management systems.
- Experience in mortgage or call center operations is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Preferred: expertise in mixed-integer linear programming, large-scale optimization modeling, and AI/ML-driven forecasting or scheduling tools.
